This long-established carpet shop is a peaceful haven in the middle of busy Portobello Road. Because the walls are lined with exquisite, densely woven Persian carpets which absorb even the gentlest whisper, the acoustics in here are excellent for anyone who appreciates quietness. As well as antique hand-knotted rugs made with natural dyes by the Kerman Afshar tribe from Iran there are beautiful modern carpets illustrated with scenes from Sufi tales or the poetry of Omar Khayyam. If you prefer traditional textiles from around the world, the owner also sources antique cotton bedcoverings embroidered with red pomegranates from Uzbekistan.
